I answered truthfully.
I should also include my series of street races with a mysterious Gray diesel Beetle.
(I always win)

Were any pretty ladies hot and bothered near you when making these alleged handbrake turns?

There was one in the car that started screaming. And one female security officer that started chasing me on a bike.
Yes. I know I'm a stupid High Schooler.

I've been using the handbrake to turn in the snow then the FWD just wants to keep going straight. The back end needs some motivation. Also, I hate FWD in the snow.

"What is Snow?"-North Carolina.

My Cutlass is originally from NC. The only time it has ever "seen" snow is probably when some snow came into the garage through the vent.

We get snow maybe once a season here in Raleigh.

Are you old enough to remember Dumpzilla back in 2000? 21.7 inches of the crap...shut down the airport for three days, the rest of the city for a good week.

I remember having to stay at a friends house while mine didn't have any power. I'm pretty sure it was 2003 or something. I might be thinking of the ice storm.

Ice storm, November 2002...I remember as I'd just taken a new job...

I lived up in Youngsville in 2000. I do recall having snow, barley enough to make a snow man.

They come in handy, if you have the head room. Great for working on the Dodge. Cheaper than renting storage or expanding the garage, if you even can.

As you wish. When I was graduating high school 10 years ago, my parents said if I get an A average, they'll get me a car. So for the same price as a 2 year old Hyundai, I could get a 32 year old Oldsmobile. No brainer.
It's a 72 Cutlass Supreme. 350, 4 barrel, single exhaust, TH350 column shift auto, open end diff, rated at a whopping 180 SAE net hp. Covert beige (that is honestly the name of the color) with brocade cloth interior and all the original brochures, manuals, warranty cards... Originally from NC. 80k miles. Pretty much original except for one repaint and some random parts that deteriorate with normal wear and tear. Engine has never been pulled and rebuilt.
I'd say Ive been a good steward to the car. Most 18 year olds would be tempted to put on dual exhaust with headers and bigger carb as soon as they got the car. Not me, I basically just drove it and kept it clean over the years. I ended up putting the original wheels and hubcaps back on this summer.
I am keeping my eyes open for the proper steering wheel. Funny how most people want my period correct wheel, but I want the regular non-442 wheel.

Hmm. So maybe it has seen some snow... But it's still solid original sheet metal.

I would say you've been a fantastic steward of the car. Even though it's just a regular Cutlass, it's now a 42 y/o regular Cutlass that deserves to be cared for and clearly is.

Thank you, sir. Like you said, it is a regular Cutlass. Probably somewhat typical of what you would actually see on the road back then. I don't know the exact numbers, but I would guess most were not 442's. I like that it is a little time capsule. Every now and then, somebody who is restoring their Cutlass will ask if they can snap some detail pics to use as a reference. It is getting harder to find the Cutlass Supreme body style, and even harder to find ones that aren't trying to be a 442.

It's certainly beautiful. I appreciate the efforts of folks like you who care for older cars so they are around for the rest of us to enjoy.
